WhiskeyTalk is a small-footprint, medium-volume, mostly acoustic rock band. Featuring two lead singers, a lockstep rhythm section, and tight harmonies, WhiskeyTalks's high-energy performances lean on instrumental creativity and a unique blend of genres—ranging from bluegrass and punk to Irish, country, and maritime music. The band delivers a mix of carefully crafted, catchy originals alongside respectfully reimagined covers.
Founded on Cape Ann in 2020, Doug Turnbull, Paul Howard, Carl Gasowski, and Jim Kuhns turned what had been an occasional jam and followed by a round of "we oughta's" into what is today one of the North Shore's liveliest original bands. WhiskeyTalk has always been about collaboration, leaning on individual strengths and interests to create a sound that is greater than the sum of its parts, not just in instrumentation, but in composition and performance. Tough to pigeonhole into a genre, such woes are forgotten after the first note.
At its core, WhiskeyTalk is a fun band to see, combining acoustic instrumentation with a driving rhythm section that keeps audiences engaged from intimate acoustic moments to full throttle singalongs. Equal to the energy of the performances though not overpowered by it is painstaking and authentic songwriting drawing from life, love, loss, joy, pain, beauty, and contradiction.
WhiskeyTalk is at home at clubs, festivals, parties, bars, weddings, and municipal and corporate events throughout New England
